“BMW FOR NATURE”
AFFORESTATION, REFORESTATION, RESTORATION AND EDUCATION.
Due to the depleting green cover, the planet is facing unprecedented climate related challenges. The human impact has led to the loss of around 40% of the world’s forests already. India INDC 2030 has assumed targets to Create 2.5 Billion tonne of new carbon sink by creating forests, with an eye to achieve Net Zero ambition by 2070. Contributing to such targets, BMW India Foundation has started to take progressive steps to create and restore green cover. The project has been initiated in Delhi-NCR, which is among the most polluted areas in the world. We firmly believe that healthier ecosystems, with richer biodiversity, yield greater benefits for everyone.
Our intervention is resulting into the creation and restoration of bio-diversity in several regions of Delhi-NCR by planting and nurturing 1000s of native trees endemic to this eco-climatic zone. Besides planting trees, the initiative focusses on post-plantation care for multiple years as well as educating young generation about our environment through multiple project events.
These planted bio-diversity areas commemorate BMW Group’s legacy and commitment to a sustainable future and make it smarter, greener and better for everyone - symbolic of sustainability, diversity, and longevity.
Our impact.
Under the CSR initiative “BMW For Nature” , we have till now planted over 100,000 trees in Delhi-NCR.

Restoring Greens. Reconnecting People with Nature.
India is facing growing ecological stress—from shrinking green cover to rising pollution and biodiversity loss. With nearly 40% of global forests already depleted, India’s INDC 2030 vision calls for creating 2.5 billion tons of additional carbon sinks on the path to achieving Net Zero by 2070. Supporting these national priorities, the BMW India Foundation implemented BMW For Nature, an integrated environmental initiative focused on:
- Biodiversity restoration through plantation and tree care
- Nature education & community engagement
Plantation and Tree Care
BMW For Nature has completed plantation of thousands of native, climate-resilient trees across Delhi-NCR. The current focus is on providing structured maintenance, including soil enrichment, mulching, irrigation, de-weeding, and survival monitoring. This sustained upkeep endeavours to achieve the objective of plantation sites evolve into self-sustaining biodiversity pockets that benefit the environment, support local fauna, and continue to inspire communities—especially young learners.
Nature Education Activities (Core Focus)
Delhi-NCR, among the most pollution-impacted regions in the world, is the primary geography where the programme operates. At the heart of BMW For Nature is a strong commitment to nature literacy, enabling children, youth, and communities to reconnect with the natural world.
Our curated Nature Education Activities experiential learning include:
- Nature Walks for Students: Schools across Delhi-NCR visit plantation sites to observe saplings and trees, understand native flora and fauna species, and learn how healthy ecosystems function. We aim to nurture curiosity, environmental responsibility, and develop a sense of belonging to nature.
- Nature Walks & Eco-Art for Communities: Encourage “Walking and cycling groups” to participate in morning nature trails at sites such as Jaunapur City Forest. Activities like guided trails, nest making, and leaf painting help reflect on the beauty of natural spaces. These experiences deepen emotional connection—an essential foundation for long-term conservation with people’s participation.
Our Impact
Under the BMW For Nature initiative, we have planted 100,000+ native trees across Delhi-NCR and engage students, youth, and community groups through nature education programmes.
