The History Of The BMW Golf Cup.
The BMW Golf Cup began in England in 1982 with the BMW Invitation Tournament. The tournament featured amateur golfers invited by BMW dealers, culminating in finals at the Belfry golf course.
In 1992, the BMW Invitation Tournament was merged with the BMW Golf Cup, which started in Germany in 1987.
The first World Final took place in Portugal in 1995. Today, 30 years later, it is clear to see how this tournament series has developed. Currently, over 10,000 golfers participate in Germany, and around 100,000 amateurs from about 50 countries compete globally.
BMW Golf Cup India
This is the India chapter of this iconic tournament were amateur golfers from across the country compete in regional qualifiers. True to BMW’s heritage of excellence, each event reflects the same sophistication and prestige associated with the brand's international golf legacy. With its perfect blend of competition and companionship, the BMW Golf Cup continues to be one of the most anticipated events in India’s golfing calendar.

Game Format
Double Peoria
Twelve hidden holes, six holes on the front nine and six on the back nine. The holes are not revealed until the game concludes.
Handicap Calculation
The number of strokes over par on these 12 hidden holes is totaled. This total is multiplied by 1.5.80% of the resulting figure becomes the player’s handicap for the day.
Net Score Calculation
The handicap is deducted from the player’s gross score (over 18 holes) to arrive at the net score. The maximum score counted on any hole is double bogey. The player with the lowest net score is declared the winner, followed by the runner-up and second runner-up.
Categories
A – Handicap score 0-12
B – Handicap score 13-28
Eligibility
- Registration is open to both BMW and non-BMW customers; however, BMW reserves the right to make the final decision on participation confirmation.
- Only BMW customers are eligible to compete for the BMW Golf Cup Trophy.
- Each BMW owner is entitled to one registration slot per vehicle; a single vehicle cannot be used to register more than once.
- To participate, BMW customers must submit a digital copy of their vehicle’s registration certificate along with their handicap score.
- If the vehicle is registered under a company name, a signed and stamped authorization letter on the company’s official letterhead is required.
- Invitations are non-transferable.
- Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Each participant is permitted to compete only once per annual BMW Golf Cup tournament series, regardless of category.
- Players who have participated in the tournament in any city within the calendar year are not eligible to register again that year.
