Stem-for-all

STEM for All.

Taking Innovation to Every Child’s Doorstep

Supported by BMW India Foundation since 2024–25 and implemented by Smile Foundation, project ‘STEM for All’ is a transformative initiative that brings hands-on, enquiry-driven learning, in the realms of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to underserved children. Launched in August 2024, the project is turning science and technology learning into an exciting, immersive experience for young learners who often lack access to such opportunities.

The initiative follows a twin model: STEM in Schools and STEM on Wheels. Under STEM in Schools, classrooms have been upgraded with Interactive Flat Panels with solar power back-up, and CCTV cameras—creating engaging, secure, and future-ready learning spaces. Simultaneously, a fully equipped STEM Van travels to remote and underserved locations, carrying grade-mapped demonstration models, reusable DIY kits, scientific tools, and digital learning content. This mobile learning environment ensures that students in unserved areas receive the same exposure to interactive STEM education.

Each STEM Lab now features over 100 models and DIY kits that enrich experiential learning. Teachers receive structured training to integrate these tools into their teaching plans, while newly formed Science Clubs motivate students to explore, experiment, and innovate beyond the classroom. Competitions, model-making workshops, and the flagship Annual Maker Rush Challenge further nurture creativity and problem-solving skills by encouraging students to design solutions for real-life challenges.

Through this initiative, children discover the joy of scientific enquiry and develop essential academic skills in a rapidly evolving world.

Impact: STEM in Schools engages nearly 1,900 students every day across five government-aided schools and one NGO-run affordable school, ensuring consistent, high-quality STEM exposure. Meanwhile, STEM on Wheels reaches an additional 1,250 children twice a week across 20 selected community schools, delivering after-school sessions that spark curiosity, build confidence, and empower young minds with the skills needed for a brighter future.
