The 4-cylinder petrol engines in the BMW 5 Series Sedan boast high dynamics and low fuel consumption – thanks to BMW TwinPower Turbo technologies. The latest generation BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine feature remarkably agile power delivery and excellent responsiveness, even at low engine speeds. At the same time they are more efficient, with fewer emissions and better performance than their predecessors. The figures speak for themselves: the engine in the BMW 520i delivers excellent performance with its 135 kW (184 hp) powertrain and accelerates with 270 Nm from 0 to 100 km/h from a standing start in just 7.9 seconds.

Thes innovative engines combine the latest fuel injection technology and fully variable valve control including Double-VANOS with state-of-the-art turbocharger technology and represents a milestone in the BMW EfficientDynamics development strategy. The result is a particularly efficient drive train, which emphasises the renowned BMW engine prowess.

The BMW TwinPower Turbo diesel engines for the new BMW 5 Series Sedan: even more powerful, even quicker off the mark – and even more efficient.Pure dynamics that make economic sense – that’s what you get from the BMW TwinPower Turbo in-line 6-cylinder engines. Their high performance and markedly reduces fuel consumption and emissions is down to an innovative technology package from BMW EfficientDynamics. A combination of the latest generation of common-rail direct injection, multi-stage turbocharging and variable turbine geometry in the BMW 530d produces and impressive 190 kW (258 hp) and enables a maximum torque of 540 Nm even from 1,500 rpm. The vehicle confidently accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 to 6.1 seconds, while fuel economy remains at a frugal 14.69 km/l. In the BMW 525d, the engine is an efficient powerhouse: 160 kW (218 hp) accelerates the new BMW 5 Series Sedan from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds – with fuel economy of 17.09 km/land CO2 emissions from 154.75 g/km. The BMW 520d also guarantees sustainable driving pleasure: its powerful BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder diesel engine provides 400 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. Fuel economy is an impressive 18.48 km/l and CO2 emissions from 144.47 g/km.
